Alcohol markers and Tim Holtz

Those are both the subjects of my pictures of the day. The first make-and-take I did at the Scrapbook Expo last Friday was a simple note, worked with Tim holtz distress ink in green and yellow, stamped with Tim Holtz stamps, and pearlized with gold Perfect pearl.

The second pictures is about my project in the Noir Spectrum alcohol markers class, where I learned how to place the light in coloring and how to blend the colors.

Not bad for a first timer, uh ?

I still have to work on my envelope book from the third class, so see you tomorrow ?

Scrapbook Expo again...

No time to make pictures of my Saturday's work today, but I still have some pictures for you. The first one is a picture of me with LeAnn Ostergaard, taken after the class on Friday.

She told me that she was a nurse for 18 years if I recall corectly. She now enjoy working for manufacturers and publishers. She had a board on Pinterest if you want to follow her. She was a great teacher during the "cool tools" class. She also is very friendly and her advices were highly appreciated on publishing.

My second picture is one of the card I made Friday at one of the free make and take.

We worked with the Pinwheels Stephanie Barnard's clear stamps set. I love the sentiment on this set. This card was fun to create !

See you tomorrow for more pictures of my fun week end.

Saturday at Scrapbook Expo

I was up early this morning for two reasons : the first one was I had a bad night at the hotel with an loud AC/heater, the second because I wanted to be at 8am at the Expo to obtain my Golden Ticket. With this ticket you could win a big prize, and you could choose which one. I got my eyes on a $100 voucher at "it's cheaper than therapy" booth. At 9:30, a class about how to color with the Noir Spectrum alcohol markers ; at 11am, a class to do an Melissa Frances envelope book.

But before tell you all about these classes, let me show you few pictures of the convention's place. It's a super nice hotel and convention center.

a nice and huge patio inside

the carpet, only in Texas...

So about the classes. The Noir spectrum marker are nice, and I love the result of the coloring, but few things hold me back to buy some. First, you cannot buy them by unit. And a package contain only different shades of one color. Another thing, you have to be very careful when working with them, because the color can get through the paper. But the blending is nice. I will show you the result tomorrow.
Beside all of this, I think the class is too expensive compare to what they offer and teach.

Now for the envelope book. It's a super cute kit, with more than necessary products to complete the book, but 2 hours are not sufficient, and we all have to leave the class without even a mounted book. I think it worth the expense anyway. For this album, you will need to wait longer to see it, because I want to work on it before sharing it.

So, after the classes, I did go take a look at the winner list, and I wasn't on it :(. The expo was crowed, so I decide to not buying anything else and go back to Houston (4h driving). I can find everything on line anyway.

Now I'm back home, and I will take some times to share my projects with you tomorrow.

Good night...

Scrapbook Expo, Grapevine Tx

Howdy everyone !

Today I have attended to the scrapbook expo in Grapevine, even if it's 4hours drive from home ! And I was not disappointed. Beside the great deals I got on the expo, I got one class this afternoon : the cool tools. I didn't win any prize, but the tools they gave you worth the class' price ! Look what I received :

There is a scoring board, a score-pal,  some Sizzix dies, a sew-easy with a stamp head, glue dots, a distressing tool, double sided tape, an adhesive eraser and a glue stick !

At the entrance of the show, I also receive a marker, a glue stick, and a 6x6 paper pad.

I can't wait to see what I'm gonna receive tomorrow at my other classes... I turn around a lot of times in the expo, and find some treasures I'm gonna share with you. Here are my $1 findings :

A lot of blings as you can see, but also wood words, chipboard flourishes and EK Success stickers.
Here now my $2 items :

I also have a $2 clear stamps set and $2.49 acrylic words.

Now I'm gonna rest a little bit for a early check out tomorrow at the hotel. My first class is at 9am but there gonna prizes at the door at 8am... See you tomorrow !

I love your gift card

It's a rainy day here. I know some of you had a big snowy day yesterday. Never gonna happen here... according to the temperature and the blooming trees, it's spring. Anyway, not a chance to have a nice walk with my dog this afternoon, so I spent times upstair in my "gameroom" (where I keep all my shinning scrap toys) and made a card. I also rethink my next double pages layout.

I still have time before picking up the kids at school, so I'm gonna share with you another card, for those who have been spoiled. A "thank you, I love your gift" card...

Few leftover papers, a heart stamp and a frame stamp by Autumn Leaves, a sentiment rubber stamp from Michael's, some ribbons, brown ink.

So if you received a lot during Valentine's day, don't forget to give some thanks too...

Altered mini Love book

I have order a little while ago a beautiful stamp by Tim Holtz, with a bookpage design. I made this time a mini love book with this stamp as cover. I add a title with little alphabet rubber stamps.

I stamped on cream cardstock with aged mahogany then fold in half. I cut cream cardstock at the same size of the interior pages and distress them with the paper distress by Tonic Studio. then I distress each page with the Aged mahogany ink. On each page you can find different stamps. I stamped with Aged mahogany. On this one, I use Prima Marketing clear stamps and a Autumn leaves clear stam.

On this pages, Inkadinkado stamp.

The script stamp and the heart with roses vines are by Inkadinkado, the "I love you" by Autumn leaves.

Again the Prima Marketing clear stamps.

And Autmun leaves.

I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Valentine's card

Fresh from the oven is my Valentine's card for DH. Made with white and red cardstock, white lace ribbon , a Tim Holtz embossing folder by Sizzix, rasperry distress ink by Ranger, and an Autumn leaves stamp.

I also made a red mailbox out of red cardstock with the Love Struck Cricut cartridge, and hide inside chocolates and mini envelopes filled with mini hearts for my daughters.

Are you ready for tomorrow ?

Girls, girls, girls...

3 for 1, that's the deal of the day ! I'm gonna show 3 layouts from my 8x8 San Antonio album. All of them are about my daughters. I take the pictures near the fountain inside the Alamo garden.

I'm still working with the 12x12 DCWV's Garden party paper.

I love these pictures. I have already scrap the first one in a 12x12 layout, and will probably make another one...

Good day to everyone. We have some sun here today, it's gonna be a good one for us.

Mardi Gras

The Chandeleur is gone, time for Mardi Gras ! Chandeleur is an old holiday in france, and most of it, we eat crepes this particular day. And for Mardi Gras, the tradition is to have a carnival in the middle of the town, dance and burn the Carnival King at the end of the day. We don't have it here in Houston, but they have one not far away in Galveston, and of course there is New Orleans !

So, to stay in the mood of Mardi Gras, here is a layout in black and white, with a picture of my youngest cat. I made this page for a workshop, to show my students how to use their border punches AND their leftover paper strips.

I used Martha Stewart and EK Success border punches, decoratives scissors, a stamp, even paper ribbons. You turn to find which border is made with these materials...

Seaworld

Still on my San Antonio scrapbook... This layout shows one of my favourite technique : free-hand cut.
I cut a 8x8 page out of a 12x12 paper, but I like the design so much, I had to keep the flourish from the leftovers on the same layout. So I cut out the design hand-free and add it on empty space of the page (branches, flowers and birds). I also cut some from the 8x8 page to slide the pictures under.

The title is stamped on a small tag made with my Cricut (Heritage cartridge).
It's still a journalingless album...
