Tim Holtz tag : January 2016

Hello !

I've been following Tim Holtz since a while now, but I don't know why, I never created a tag for his monthly challenge. I will try this year to do it each month, so let's start with the January one.

I used gold foiled paper and black chalkboard cardstock by DCWV, a Tim Holtz stamp, a Sizzix/Tim Holtz embossing folder, black distress ink (Ranger), a Sizzix stamp, plus a gold eyelet, a gray ribbon, two small brads, and white ink (Colorbox).

A close-up on the stamp... I used a gold gel pen but it appears yellow on the picture, sorry...

It was about time to create a tag... If you want to make one, you still have 3 days to upload it on the Tim Holtz blog...

Happy Thursday !

You saw my layout yesterday, so here is the new card sketch for the January challenge from the DCWV blog :
I used the Marquee stack by DCWV, changing the round shape for a square one. Could be a Valentine's card if you like using non-traditional colors...

Don't hesitate to create a card for this challenge on the DCWV blog, you could win a DCWV prize !

Have a great day and see you soon...

Tuesday, last day at CHA

It will be an half day in fact, because the show stops at 2PM today.

Today I had a very nice chat with Jaime Echt, designer and founder of TCW, and she shows me some of the new stencils they had :

Love the circle pattern, it will be a good match with the coffee stains stencil...

Sorry for the blurry picture, taken from my phone...
After that I went to the Idea-ology booth, very tempting for a crafter... I saw the new crazy cats stamps and rub-ons (God I love rub-ons) !

very nice embellishments too...can you spot the tiny round bottles ?

and of course my own selfie with Tim Holtz the Great !

I will make a last round this afternoon on the floor, so I will maybe make a part two for today...
See you around !

Monday at CHA

Things are slowing down here, a lot less excitement in the aisles, and I'm starting to be very tired...
So after meeting few DCWV designers, I just went to few make-n-takes, starting with one from a CHA designer, Terri Kolte :

The banner was not supposed to be this way, but that's how it ended up in my bag...
I came accross the Chameleon pens booth and decided to give it a try...

Let's say that I'm so used to the Copic that I did not appreciated the Chameleon pens... To have a lighter color, you have to use the mixing chamber at the other end of the pen, but you cannot control the mix precisely and once you colored your image, you cannot go over to modify what you've done.
So no, thank you, not for me.
But if you like them, do the demo and wear your butterfly on your badge during the show, you may being picked to win a prize from their booth !
Here is the complete set of pens :

After that, I stopped by the Heartfelt Creations booth and made this cute shoe :

What I really keep as a good idea was the pin+flower on the top of their opened bottle of glue...

I think I'm done for today. I will maybe try some shopping around the hotel if I can find some stores...

Bye bye...

Sunday at CHA

There will be no part two for Sunday, because I spent the day on the DCWV booth, helping with the make-n-takes, so I did not saw a lot of the floor...

So this morning I had a very interesting meeting about the CHA Designer Section, where I learned a lot about the opportunities and benefits of being a CHA designer. I think I will try to apply for next year, and finally expand what's gonna be my business as a designer...
The funny part was the end of the meeting, where took place a drawing, and where I won a gift.... donated by Canvas Corp Brands ! How funny is that (remember, I on the CCB DT...) ?

I just had to time to change T-shirt before going to the DCWV booth (#573), where I help with the two make-n-takes : a cute crystal necklace and crepe paper flower.
Look what I did for my two daughters in less than two minutes :

I did take a short break and found this manufacturer (Uchi's Design) with very cute punches. They can cut and emboss in the same time and I loved the design ! They have beautiful foxes, heart, flower, star... It may not show on this picture, but you could really see the 3D effect :

At the end of the day, I stop by the Designer booth and saw beautiful projects :

You can recognize Rita Barakat style in the second picture...
And I met a lovely French speaking Canadian lady  (Marjolaine Walker) who made great stencils :

I met also the sweet Terri Kolte (and forgot to take pictures of her work). I will probably see her tomorrow morning, as she's having a make-n-take at 11AM.

To finish, I found a French stamp manufacturer on the CHA floor ! It's Carabelle Studio. They have great and original designs, and I hope I can work with them in a near future...

OK ! I'm done for today. It's 5:30PM, not sure if I have enough courage to find food for diner or if I will just lay down until tomorrow...

Have a good night yourself !

Saturday at CHA - Part Two

After all the fun I had during the day, I decided to have a good break at the hotel before the Open Market, so no more pictures from the CHA floor for Saturday.

What is Open Market ? Curiously, a lot of people from the booths didn't know what is was.
If you're an attendee, you could registered for the Open Market for a $20 fees, and you had access to the event, who took place on the 3rd floor from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.

I was going blind on this one, didn't know what to except. I was hoping for a lot of my favorite brands, and was disappointed on this, but I found The Crafter's Workshop stencils for a killer price ($2 for a 12x12, $1 for a 6x6 !), and Stampendous products at a good range (between $1 to $5).
DCWV products were at great deals, and you can tell it from the door, because people went crazy around it ! They had by far the most filled with products booth and unbeatable prices...
People were also in a long line for Sizzix, but no dies there except 3 stamps/dies set I wasn't interested in.

Here are the pictures of what I bought :

Souffle and Glaze pens were $3 each, big cling stamp $3, pins $1, big stencils $3 each, wood mounted stamp $3 and small stencil $1 !
And now my TCW stencils...

$15 for all this TCW stencils ! Incredible !

Now shower, breakfast and a Designer Meet-n-Greet conference at 8AM, before helping on the DCWV booth from 10:30AM to 4PM. If you are at CHA, I would love to meet you there !

I will make an update tonight, so see you then !

Saturday at CHA - Part one

Before the Canvas Corp Brands Make-n-Take, I went to the floor before doors opened to the public to quietly have a look a new stuff.

Did you know that Crafter's Companion will release soon a complete collection (stamps, embossing folders, embellishments...) of Downtown Abbey products ? They are gorgeous, and I can't wait to have my hands on them !

I did stop by the Faber-Castell booth where I found Rita Barakat doing her demo (and she's still doing it all day !) :

They have brand new colors for my favorite pens :

I also had some samples from Faber-Castell as well as a cute flair from Rita !

Then before noon, I went to the Canvas Corp Brands booth (#1365) for the Make-n-Take :

If you stop by the booth #1365, you can make a flower brooch. If you instagram the picture of your brooch with #ccbmaker2016, you will enter our little giveaway...
Here is the one I made...

After this, I stopped by the Prima Marketing booth to a a look at their new products. Love the new IOD molds :

And their oversized rub-ons:

Love, love, love the adhesive rub-ons (works with foil, fine glitter for example) :

I saw some gorgeous projects too :

and the lovely Anna (aka Finnabair) :

I made a small stop at the Pebeo booth before getting back to the hotel :

They have beautiful products with amazing effects :

That's it for now !
I will go to the Open Market tonight, praying to find some good deals on products I like. I will let you know...

Bye bye...
