April Make it Prima challege - A mini album

Hello beautiful people !

I hope you have a great week end (maybe you're on a day off tomorrow too), and ready for my new project for the Prima challenge... I made a mini album with the Tales of You & Me 12x12 kit and a En Francais ribbon :

I cut the album with the Minibook cartridge and my Cricut in size 3 1/4". I distressed the edges and the inside of the album with Black Sooth distress ink by Ranger.

I used few big punches (EK Success, McGill) to cut some frames, or envelopes to decorate the album. The other embellishments are stickers from the Prima kit or flowers fussy cut from the papers.

Those papers are full of image to cut, I had a lot of fussy fun...

This is blank and ready to be filled with small pictures or journaling :

And the last picture is for the back of the album.

I will now go eat some chocolates before my children make them disappear...
Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you liked my mini.

See you soon for another project...

Distress Oxide ink on black cardstock - Tag tutorial

Hi there !

I know it's been a while, but my back required more rest than I expected (had surgery last month)...

I did play again with my distress oxide ink by Ranger, but this time I applied them on black cardstock and cream cardstock, so you will see the difference :

I use Distress oxide inks in Broken China, Cracked pistachio, Fossilizied amber and Wilvet violet.
Dies are from Tim Holtz / Sizzix, and I used a white gel pen to outline the tag.

You can watch the complete tutorial on my YouTube channel (I will be super happy if you follow me...) or here :

Thank you for stopping by today, see you on Monday for another mixed media tutorial for the Art Anthology blog !

Have a great week end...

March Make It Prima challenge

Hi there !

It was not possible for me to let the Prima March Make It challenge without creating something !
So I said to my back to be strong while I was making this tag, with rich chocolate cream and pastel pink colors, layers and fun !

shabby chic Prima Marketing tag with dies, flowers, embossing and chalk

As required, my tag is filled with Prima products... Flowers, of course, but also dies (for the leaves and doilie), papers (Ledgers from the mint and the chocolate, Tales of you&me for the flowers and butterflies), the tag (aquarelle tag pad), the ribbon (old collection), stickers (Tales of you&me), chalks in old pink and teak wall, and the fabric butterfly !

close-up shabby chic tag with Prima Marketing flowers, dies, papers, embossing and fussy cutting

Only two things are not Prima : the Sizzix embossing folder I use on the pink tag, and the clay heart.

shabby chic tag with Prima Marketing products

I missed the different challenges from Prima... Having three challenge increased my chances to win... Besides, I always loved using their sketch for layout and card...
But hey ! I'm not giving up on winning one day ! After all I've been featured several time, including last month...

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you liked my new tag...
See you soon (probably next week now because my back makes me pay this work...) !

Flowery Hello card with La Compagnie des Elfes

Bonjour !
I have a "Hi" card for you today, made with stamps from La Compagnie des Elfes and papers from DCWV :

CAS card with flower stamp and DCWV papers

I started by stamping the flowers and the leaves on the card base, using the masking technique to make clusters. Then I cut three panels from the Minty Lace stack by DCWV. I adhered first the black one.
I stamped on white cardstock the flowers and leaves, fussy cut them, before adhering few in clusters over the edges of the black paper. I repeated this step with the wood paper, and at the end, I adhered the journaling card.

So Hello to you and have a great day ! Stay connected with friends and relatives and... make cards.
Bye !

Shabby chic altered box with Art Anthology

Hello !

It took me forever (due to my back issue), but I was in time for my Art Anthology's post !
This time I created an altered box, with shabby chic style using mixed media techniques... Take a look :

shabby chich mixed media wood box with Art Anthology paints and Prima Marketing flowers

To add Spring colors to this box, I used the Colorations sprays by Art Anthology in Avocado and Wild Orchid.
For the embellishments, I used Prima Marketing flowers and dies, lace, half-pearls, metal embellishments, and Martha Stewart molds with air dry clay for the corners, central frame and cameo.

You can see additional close-up pictures and the complete video tutorial on the Art Anthology's blog.
For more mixed media tutorial, you can go to my YouTube channel too...

Thank you for stopping by today. Hope to see you soon for another project...

Did you try the new Distress Oxide inks ?

I had a LOT of free time laying down in my bed after back surgery, and while looking at thousand of pages on the internet, my fingers must have hit an "order now" button by mistake and someone delivers the 12 new Tim Holtz distress oxide inks by Ranger to my home today ! What can I do ? These babies were in need of a new home and I will not be the one to send them back to a cold box somewhere in a dark warehouse !

So I took them out the package and gave them a place to stay in my scraproom... Better, I tried them ! And I made a card with a video tutorial for you (find the link at the end of this post) !

distress oxide ink tutorial to create a card with stamps

Take a closer look at the oxide effect :

effect using distress oxide ink by Tim Holtz and Ranger

One thing surprised me : the texture of these inks... they looks like chalks ! But they really react differently with water...

Besides the oxide, I used stamps by Inkadinkado, Heidi Swapp and Prima Marketing, black Stazon ink, and DCWV cardstock with Square Glue Dots to adhere the different panels.

Take a look at my video tutorial to learn how I created this card :

Thank you for stopping by today. I'm getting slowly back to crafting so please be patient and come back soon for my next project...

DCWV March sketch layout

Hi everyone !

Each new month comes with two sketches from the DCWV challenge : one for a layout and one for a card. This month you can find the challenge on their Facebook page !
Today I will show you what I have done with the layout sketch !

Shabby / vintage country scrapbooking layout with DCWV papers

I choose to use the Country Floral stack to create a vintage look on this page, to go with the style of one of my favorite 's picture, taken when my daughter was 18 months old...
I create the title with the Graphically Speaking cartridge by Cricut.
I glue around a 7" circle a white lace easily with Fabri-Tac , and add alpha stickers by Sticko to the small frame punched with a McGill punch.
Everything else came only from the Country Floral paper stack by DCWV.

Published card with Prima Marketing

Hello folks !

Some of you may know that I had back surgery few days ago. I will not be able to play with my scrap goodies during a while, as I cannot sit at all, or stay stand for long. But it doesn't mean I can't share my projects with you ! I may have few in my pocket I've waited to show you because they were published and not available for posting...

Let's start with a cute card published in the June 2016 issue of Craft Stamper...
The theme was French Fancy, so I'd popped up my En Francais 6x6 paper pad and the Julie Nutting Merci stamps set by Prima Marketing.

Prima Marketing card with Julie Nutting doll stamp

You can see my own French Touch here by the cut out flowers and leaves from one of the papers... The dress was stamp in the flowery paper too and cut to dress up the doll.
Copic markers to color the doll and highlight the flowers, laces and ribbon on the left of the card, plus Walnut stain distress ink by Ranger and I was done...

As I said, I have few projects to show you before getting back to crafting, so please be patient and come back soon...
Thank for stopping by today !

Mixed media card tutorial with La Compagnie des Elfes stamps

Hello !
I created today's card with one of my favorite technique : stamping into gesso to create texture !
I started with a white cardstock, gesso, a stamp Texture by la Compagnie des Elfes and Colorations spray in Waimea Bay by Art Anthology. Branches are drawn with the inside tube of Colorations spray in Warm, and flowers are stamps (La Compagnie des Elfes) colored with Copic markers.

Shabby altered bottle for February Prima challenge

Things are a little bit different on the Prima blog this month. Instead of having PPP, BAP and CAT, it's only one big challenge with a moodboard, mostly with pink colors, hints of shabby and touches of gold.
As we are in February, and only few days from Valentine's day, I decided to create the perfect bottle for a love potion !

mixed media altered wine bottle with Prima Marketing, Iron Orchid Designs, and Art Anthology

A lot of Prima products there ! I started with a small (empty) bottle of wine and some old book pages with gel medium. Gesso all over it, and then white crackle paste. Once dry, I apply pink chalk plus black gelato mixed with water to give the grey shadows. Some light brushes of gold crackle paste and crosses stamped with black distress ink and the bottle was ready to be decorated.

crackle paste and Art Antology inks on this close-up of my altered bottle

I created the clay embellishments with IOD molds, then painted them with Colorations sprays in Raider, Barbie and Valentine (Art Anthology) before adhering them with gel medium. I added Prima flowers and few other embellishments and added light brushes of gold crackle paste before adhering gold flakes and gold microbeads with gel medium.
Text created with alpha stickers from the Tales of You & Me 12x12 kit.

IOD mold used to create these clay embellishments, plus Finnabair crackle paste

As always when I try this style, the result is a little bit brighter than the usual shabby chic...

Thank you for reading this post today, I hope you like what you saw... Let me know if you think this project has some chance to win this new challenge !

Have a wonderful day !

Stamped card with La Compagnie des Elfes

Hi you !

A quick post today to show a card I made recently, for no reason. Who need a reason to play with stamp anyway !

I used the stamp "Lettre a mes parents" (script in French) and the stamp "Lutine" (elf) with black Stazon. I first stamped the elf on the card, then stamped it a second time on another paper. I cut out the second image and adhere it on the top of the 1st one with removable glue. Then I stamped the text all over the card and remove the 2nd stamp once done.
The elf is colored with Copic sketch markers (E00, E11, E13, G00, G02, Y00, Y11). Sentiment is laser cut wood words, colored with the G02.

Thank you for taking some time to take a look at my card. I wish it will inspire you to play with stamp too today !

See you soon for another project and have a great day !

Here is the inspiration board for the challenge :

DCWV February challenge layout

Hello everyone !
Time for a new layout with the February challenge on the DCWV blog !
For once, I choose a picture of mefor my page, to go with the title I found first in the Royal Gypsy stack...

Of course I had to cut out the title, but also the gorgeous floral designs of this stack !

It's pretty rare for me to have a good selfie. I love this one in particular, taken few years back in my Texan kitchen, and simply filtered in Instagram...

If you want to play , here is the layout sketch :

You will have until the end of the month to send your layout to DCWV !

Artist Trading Card with La Compagnie des Elfes

Hi you !

It was about time to create a new ATC ! So I grabbed a fantastic ATC stamp by La Compagnie des Elfes, some inks and stencil by Art Anthology, and get to work !

Beside the stamp, I used the stencil and Colorations sprays by Art anthology, in Glorious and Wild Orchid. The white parts are colored with a white gel pen, and I also added small touches of purple Souffle pen by Sakura. The black flower design is the Kaleidoscope stencil by art Anthology used with a black pen.
The sentiment are from a rolling stamp by Recollections.

Thank for your taking some time to read this post. I have many more project in my sleeve so stay tune in these next days...

Have a wonderful day !

Mixed media art journal spread : Let the Earth breathe

These past days we have seen a lot of unexpected decisions, and one if not all inspired me for art journal pages. Denying the global will not make it disappear. We are all responsible for polluting the Earth and should all take actions to reduce green house gases emissions (beside a lot of other actions like reduce plastic use, research for green energy vehicles, eliminate harmful fertilizers...the list is long).

Let Mother Earth breathe was my inspiration :

You can recognize the Free Spirit stamp (Prima Marketing) as Gaia aka Mother Earth, stamped with Walnut stain distress ink (Ranger).
Background was built with heavy white gesso (Prima Marketing), and Art Anthology paints in different shades of green : Avocado Colorations spray, Shamrock Velvet dimensional paint, Parakeet Sorbet dimensional paint, Granny Smith colorations spray. I also used distress inks in Mowed Lawn and also Walnut stain (Ranger) for the edges. I used Mini herbarium stencil by TCW and few stamps for the leaves.

Wanna be a responsible crafter ? Here is a simple thing to do : have two trash can in your craft room, one for recycling (or more depending on how your recycling program works) for leftovers, paper wrapping, metal, fibers... and one for the rest. and if not done already, extend it to the whole house...

Thanks you for reading this post today. due to the number of decisions taken these days, you might see other inspired art journal pages soon.

Have a great day !

Mixed Media Place blog January challenge

Hello !

Finally a new layout ! January is kind of weird, everything is slowing down, like everyone is hibernating or something... My creativity is bursting but my body will not follow, and rather like to stay on the couch, under my blanket, cuddling with my dog, and if I had a caramel macchiato in my hand it would be heaven. BUT, I don't have this kind of coffee shop around, AND I have two buzzing teens flying around SO better if I can hide in my scraproom... and if I'm there, why not create ?

That's what I did, so today I can show you a layout, inspired by the Mixed Media Place blog moodboard :

Here is my project :

Colors were my mainly inspiration there, so I started by choosing papers from the Minty Lace stack by DCWV. Then I started building the background with the Art Anthology stencil bubbles and a black Faber-Castell pen, painting the circles with a small brush and Bankroll Minx (Art Anthology).
I added a layer with Black leather jacket Sorbet paint (AA) and the mini tile texture stencil (TCW), and once dry, I added stroke of Warm Colorations ink (AA).

Layers of papers, few feathers cut with X-Cut dies (DoCraft), an air dry clay painted in the same colors and black glitter chipboard alphas and my layout was done...

Hope you liked what you saw. Thank you for stopping by today, and see you soon for another project...

Altered phone case with DCWV

Hello !

If you have teenagers at home, you know how much they love to change their phone case like every week... Sometimes the previous one is just too plain for them... So what I do (but not with every case, it would be time consuming !) is alter a phonecase to make a new one !
Maybe you saw the tutorial about the mixed media case I made a while ago, or the one I covered with DCWV papers ? Well, I upgraded another case last week (not for my daughters this time, but for a friend), again with DCWV papers but from another stack, the Watercolor stack.

I cut out the flowers and the stripes and glued them over the paper covered phone case with Mod Podge matte (Plaid). I added few extra layers of Mod Podge to seal and protect the case.
Do you like it ? It's peppy and fresh, and it did put a smile on the lucky teenager who received it...
Thank you for stopping by today. I will see you soon for another project...

DCWV tags for CHA / Creativation 2017

Hello !

The craft mega show will start today and I'm so sad to stay in France during this week end ! I did love my last year trip to Anaheim and wish I could be at Creativation next year... But if you look closely in DCWV booth, you will find a wall of tags about "why do I create" or "what me makes a maker ?", and some pieces of me will be there !

I din't have much time to create these tags (if enough time would have been given to me, I would have made enough for the entire wall I think...), so there are only 5.

The one above is made with a Sizzix tag die and a sheet of Color and Create stack (Floral), colored with watercolor. Watercolor is the new thing I've tried last year, even if I'm not a painter, and I quite like it, even if it's impossible for me to get stuck with the pastel look of it. I have to make it brighter...

Another reason to create is to be different (pour etre different). More than be, it's maybe to show I'm different. I think differently, I see the world differently, I feel differently. Everyone does. But not everyone can put this difference into making. Showing my difference in my creations is important to me.
It's again Sizzix die and Color&Create paper, with Sizzix rub-ons for the sentiment (yes Sizzix has rub-ons...). To emphasize the idea of difference, I use only color (Peacock feathers distress ink by Tim Holtz) on the background. the flowers are colored with gray Copic sketch markers (N0, N2, N4, N6).

Again Sizzix die and Color&Create (Pretty prints) and Copic markers...
"Pour rester folle"... meanings "to stay crazy"... Embrace your own craziness is part of the creativity, and, again, of what makes you different. What would have been Dali if he didn't embrace it ? You would have look at boring painting of realistic clocks... So be crazy !

Same stack, same die, different colors... Be crazy tag was all about warm color. This one is about "to not becoming completely crazy" (or to stay sane), and I choose more calming, cool colors for it.
While embracing your inner craziness, you also have to stay sane from the world's insanity... 2016 was really full of it, and expressing my feeling into my projects was a good way to not be overwhelmed by sadness (for example an art journal page).

The last one was made with the same die by Sizzix, leftover of the Color&Create paper and a brushes stamp by Stampendous. Quote says :"To have"... brushes ! Yes part of the pleasure to create things is to have new toys to play with ! Don't say it's not true ! We all love have new art supplies...

OK ! That's it for today ! As I will not see this great wall of tags by myself, please try to spot my tags if you're there... Better : share it with me on Instagram with #walloftagsCHA2017 ! And if you made one of this tags, share it too !

If you are in Phoenix, have fun ! If not, have fun too !
Thank you for stopping by, can't wait to see your pictures on Instagram...
Have a great day and see you tomorrow for an incredible steampunk project...
