Distress Oxide : Same technique, two effects

Hello !

It is a busy week, but I took some time to play with my Distress Oxide today... I made two cards, with the same stamp, both emboosed, but with two different look resulting from different uses of the inks.

Here is the first one, using Distress Oxide inks as watercolors :

The card is made from white cardstock, with a roses stamp by Stampendous embossed with copper powder, and the inks were used as watercolor paints with a brush.

Take a closer look to see the shiny copper design...

Here are the products I used for this card :

For the second card, I choose to cover the white cardstock with black distress ink first ( and sprinkle some water too), then stamp and emboss in silver before using the distress oxide inks as watercolors.

Here a close-up :

That's what I used :

These two cards have very look, and the only difference is the addition of black distress ink in the back ground ! That was a cool effect to discover !

I hope it will inspire you to create something today. Thank you for stopping by today and see you soon !

Create an Art Book with Art Anthology

Hello !

I know I didn't catch up with my usual craft production... I'm still in a temporary housing, with only 1/10 of my craft stash, BUT anyway I do have my Art Anthology products now, so I was able to create a new project for their blog !

What did I create this time ? A huge project, it took me a while because with no place inside the appartment and no good light, I had to pack my stuff each time I wanted to work, go to a conference inside the building, start working and stop oftenly because my camera's batteries is weak and I had to charge it (and then go back to the appartment, and so on...)

So, what is the project ? An art book. Not the kind you buy and alter. The one you BUILD ! From the inside page, to the covers and the binding ! Yep. Take a look :

One of the inside pages :

I did the binding with new and old toys :

Go to the Art Anthology blog to see more pictures and have details on this project. You can also watch my video tutorial on this post :

Thank you for your time ; it's motivating knowing you will visit my blog to look at my project... Don't forget to enter my 100,000 pageviews giveaway, you could win a $20 gift certificate to spend on Scrapbook.com ! Follow my blog and comment on the post to enter before the end of this month.

See you soon...

#HoustonStrong card

Hello there!

While everyone is now focusing on Florida where Irma has a destroying impact, I am still stuck with my feelings after Harvey and the massive flooding in Houston. Some houses were still under water until yesterday. The house we were buying was... Houston is now a war zone, and yards have disappeared under tons of demolition waste and trashed furnitures.

I want to focus on good things to cheer me up and to help me create, so I decided to take the Monday Simon Says Stamp challenge because project has to include a star. And of course I tought of the lonely star of Texas. Texas is a strong and proud state, but it's not a lonely one. Massive help and donations came from all over the U.S.. And I have seen a great solidarity between Houston residents during this period of crisis. My sentiment for the card I was gonna made came in a instant : rain or shine, you're not lonely...

I use a white cardstock panel for the base, and apply the Oxide distress inks in Faded Jeans and Fire brick, directly with the pad to form the Texas flag. I sprayed water over the panel to reveal the Oxide effect. It even flooded (!) over my white part !
I added a star punch from white cardstock, and printed text in Playbill font for the sentiment.

Let's take a closer look.

If you followed closely the flooding map in Houston as I did, you know that it look like the Houston's Bayous between the two reservoirs.

If you are on Irma's path, stay safe. Wherever you are, you are not alone. Sending love to everyone...
Bye for now !

Altered skull candy with Art Antholgy

Hello there !

I finally received some of my craft materials from France and was able (just in time !) to work on a project I had in time since we arrived in Houston and went to Michaels, where I found a plaster skull candy... I knew it will be a perfect match with the Art Anthology mediums and I was so right !

Look at the result ! Isn't it gorgeous ? I mean, for a skull...

So I made a video tutorial (that you can also find on the Art Anthology blog or on my YouTube channel). Please be kind, the quality is far from perfection, as I shoot in the temporary appartment's kitchen with my daughter holding the phone... But it was a fun process and it's a quick video, you will not suffer long...

Thank you for stopping by today. Don't forget about my giveaway (everybody has a need for a $20 card to spend on craft supplies, right ?). This could be your favorite project, so say it the comment !

Have a wonderful day !
